From Piraeus to Prague

I’m gonna keep this one fairly short as last night’s game really should be put well behind us and forgotten about. We went into the game in a healthy position, 3-1 up and with 3 away goals. This left the Greek side with everything to do and us to just to see it out. We missed a hat full of chances that I’m not too worried about and looked a bit leggy. They nicked one but did they we really look in trouble? Not at all. We did enough thanks to our performance in the first leg in Greece. Who throws away a 2 goal lead over two legs against supposedly inferior opposition? Well apparently one side of North London.

I’m not often one to take too much delight in other teams failings, I’m much more focused on seeing us perform at our best. Take the win and on to the next sort of thing. However, sometimes teams present you with the opportunity to truly have a good old laugh. After being rattled by us at the weekend, that lot down the road spectacularly imploded in Zagreb, shipping 3 goals and going out 3-2 on aggregate. Truly hilarious. And this morning I was still smiling about it.

But this is of course an Arsenal blog so we won’t wallow in their misery (too much!). The draw has just taken place and we now face Slavia Prague in the next round followed by either Dinamo Zagreb or potentially a meeting with Unai Emery and Villareal, should we overcome Slavia Prague of course.

Onto the rather odd 3pm kick off against high flying West Ham on Sunday, where we’ll need to be much sharper than last night to take all 3 points.

COYG!
