Firstly apologies for the lack of post last weekend, I was otherwise tied up with birthdays, traveling and a whole host of other things. Life gets in the way. However there’s no rest for the wicked as we begin a period of 8 days where we play three games. That starts with Fulham at home tomorrow. We have a good chance to make it 12 from 12. But it won’t be easy.
Fulham have 5 points from three this year including a win against Liverpool. Mitrovic looks like he’s in form at the moment have scored three times in their opening three and we need to be awake to his presence. It’s going to be a tough afternoon in the air for Gabriel and Saliba, unless we stop the crosses early. I really think that will be key at the back for us, preventing them from swinging the balls in chokes some of Mitrovic’s threat.
Going forward we know we can hurt anyone, which is why it was interesting to hear Mikel Arteta say he wants more firepower. This has tied in with the rumours linking us to Pedro Neto, which by the way I very much doubt will happen. Jesus looks full of energy and you can see the panic descend as he runs at defences. Down the wings we also carry threat in Saka and Martinelli. Along with that as we saw at Bournemouth, Odegaard is also capable of chipping in. I along with a few others thought he had started the season pretty slowly, but he’s off the mark now and I don’t think you can simply discount his input so far. He’s a pivotal part of the Arsenal machine at the moment.
With the games starting to pile up I think it’s inevitable over the next few games that Arteta will begin to rotate. 3 games in 8 days is punishing for any team especially when that ends with a trip to Old Trafford. We’ve yet to see Fabio Vieira really play any solid minutes. Considering the fee we spent on him, I expect that to change soon. We also have players on the fringes of the team that need to be ready when called on, letting them go cold so to speak wouldn’t be wise. Still all that said I think Arteta will name an unchanged XI for tomorrows 5:30 KO.
Another 3 points would be very nice going into a tough week.
COYG!
